A Quiet Day With A Friend

Mystery had spent several hours at the Grog with friends she’d reconnected with had gone home and fallen into bed. Her alarm set to get her up early as Ryan was due for breakfast. After checking in with her ship Mystery walked to the porch and set the table there as it promised to be a hot day. Returning to the kitchen she put in her famous Apple Raisin French Toast in the oven, fresh squeezed orange juice and freshly ground coffee.

Ryan made his way to Mystery’s house. He’d always liked her bungalow style house. Walking onto the front porch he smiled when he saw the table set out there. Walking into the house he found Mystery in the kitchen “What smells so good?”

Turning “Hi Ryan, breakfast is just about done.” She handed him a tray with the orange juice and the coffee. “If you’ll take this out to the porch I’ll bring breakfast right out.”

Taking the tray from her Ryan walked onto the porch, poured the orange juice and coffee just as Mystery walked out with the Apple Raisin French Toast. Setting it on the table.

“I hope you’re hungry,” Mystery said

“Famished,” Ryan answered leaning in to kiss her before taking a seat.

Mystery took a seat and dished up breakfast as they caught up on things.

When finished Ryan leaned back in his seat and looked at her “So that star ship up there is your command. When did this happen?”

“A few months ago, the captain was reassigned and headquarters promoted me. My new first officer is due to arrive here and after what my crew has been through I figured they could use some down time and no better place than Risa,” Mystery replied.

“How long will you be here?” Ryan asked

“About a week, the ship is getting supplies,” Mystery said “But I’m going to have to return to it soon.”

“How soon?” Ryan asked

“A day or two, I’ll need to file reports and approve the supplies that will be delivered,” Mystery answered

“Why don’t I help you get this cleaned up and then we spend the day together,” Ryan offered

“I’d like that,” Mystery said as they cleared the table and after dishes were done and put away, Mystery pinned her com-badge onto her shirt, and together they headed out for a day of relaxing.
