"Transporter Room 1, this is Ensign T'Sol, I need a site to site transport from Engineering to the Shuttle Bay" T'Sol instructed as he grabbed his PADD which had the mission coordinates.

[ Shuttle Bay]

"Aye, Ensign you'll be transported in 3..2..1..mark." The next thing T'Sol realized he was standing in the middle of Shuttle Bay. Coming towards him was Lt. Maida.

"Ensign I understand that you will borrowing one of our shuttles. I assume that your an accomplished Pilot?" the Lieutenant inquired.

"Yes Lt. Maida, I have over one thousand piloting hours logged. I may need some help if you would be so kind as to accompany me." T'sol answered.

"That's a great idea, that way I can keep my eye on you and my shuttle" Lt. Maida said with a smile.

After boarding the shuttle T'Sol started the engines and keyed in the coordinates into the Nav Panel. "Lt. Maida while I'm expelling plasma from the shuttle's nacelles, keep the sensors trained on the freighter and if they attempt to fire either on us or the ship fire the torpedos as per the Captains orders." T'Sol instructed. The Lieutenant nodded as she began making the adjustments on her panel.

The engines made a whirling noise as they left the Hanger Bay and made a wide loop out from the ship and started back.

"Why are you doing that. " Maida asked a little put back at what she was seeing.

"I'm attempting to counter the effects of the radiation on the outside of the ship with plasma. As you can see, only part of the ship is visible" T'Sol answered.

"Ensign T'Sol this is the captain. We're getting an energy surge from the anomaly out there. Targeting sensors are out. Get your shields up. Try to get a lock on that anomaly and when you do fire." Mystery turned to tactical "She manages to get a lock and is able to fire I want you to fire at any explosion out there. Ensign once you fire on that get clear of the ship and await my further orders. We don't have a lot of time."

Lieutenant Maida was about to respond when twin beams of energy lanced into the side of the Independence. T'Sol could see the tell-tale signs of atmosphere being vented into space.

"Returning fire," Lieutenant Maida announced as she fired the shuttle's phasers in the direction of the anomaly.

"Get us out of here T'sol, the plasma will have to wait momentarily" Maida ordered.

Not a word came from T'Sol but he pulled a hard banked turn to get away from the ship, at least for the moment, knowing that the Independence must be in trouble.

"The Captain wants us out of harms way, if that's possible, so lets hang here for a moment and wait further orders" lt. Maida ordered. T'Sol nodded in agreement.

Lieutenant Maida watched as the Independence and the alien ship traded salvos. Without a lock from the fire control systems, the chance of scoring a direct hit was infinitesimally small. If the alien's had any shield or deflector technology, they would likely be unharmed. The Indy on the other hand...

After what seemed like an eternity to Rebecca, Lieutenant Lance's voice came over the communicator. "Ensign T'Sol," he ordered, "You may begin your run to deploy plasma. Immediately return to the ship after deployment. I need you to manage the repair efforts."

Without responding, T'Sol maneuvered the shuttle into position.

"Computer on my mark start expelling plasma from the nacelles at a rate of 1 cubic meter per second for eight seconds" were T'Sol's instructions.

"Computer 3,2,1,Mark" and the plasma started expelling from the shuttle. After only a few seconds "Warning hull shear is approaching critical levels, advise adjusting course" the Computer announced.

"Computer hold your course" T'Sol ordered as he only had a few more seconds and the plasma would be all released. When finished he banked the shuttle hard and steeply to the left and came around to get a better view of the ship.

"That's some very aggressive piloting Ensign. I'm not sure it's regulation but it looks like you got the job done." Lt Maida exclaimed as more and more of the ship was coming into view.

"T'Sol to Captain Ellis, mission complete. Lt. Lance should start seeing more and more of the ship on the censors. The ship should be free to navigate in twenty two minutes. Returning to the ship" T'Sol out.

"Ensign, well done. Ready to get back to the Independence" Lt Maida quarried.

"Yes I believe I am." T'Sol answered "Flight Control this is Shuttle One, permission to land."

"Permission granted Shuttle One."

After they had landed and had exited the shuttle T'Sol turned to the Lieutenant "Thank you for accompanying me."

"Your welcome... and by the way, remind me the next time that I fly with you not to eat first; I think that I left part of my lunch up there somewhere" Lt Maida responded with a chuckle and turned walking towards her Ready Room.

T'Sol thought for a moment raising one eyebrow, as Vulcans do when puzzled "Interesting, I don't recall any food on the shuttle." Then he exited the Shuttle Bay and made his way back to Engineering.
