» Red Dots?

Posted on Sun Aug 9th, 2020 @ 7:16pm by Lieutenant JG Kevin Lance in General News

What does the red dot to the right of the character in the Crew Manifest mean?

I assume that blue is a player character and grey is an NPC but can't figure out what red would mean. Only Command Silk and Ensign Billi, who I believe are managed by the same player, have red dots.

» Time Line

Posted on Sat Aug 8th, 2020 @ 1:02am by Captain Mystery Ellis in General News

Sadly to say I cannot see Picard, I cannot see Discovery. They are both on CBS All Access and I cannot afford them. Therefore the events Lance has listed are foreign to me. I don't know what to do at this point. I have never seen a streaming service. I've never seen Netflex. I live with my elderly mom and we're on a fixed income. I've made this clear in PM's with a few others. I don't even know how to do a streaming service. That being said I don't have any idea what the following things are about I chose the timeline as it was in the middle.

I think that setting our action in 2385 is a good choice with a couple of caveats .

2385 is after most of the canon events from TV series and Movies in the Star Trek Universe. It is 6 years after the events is ST: Nemesis and 10 before the future timeline of the TNG episode “All Good Things…” With the exception of a few future timeline episodes, 2385 is after the events in TOS, TNG, DS9, Voyager, Enterprise, and Discovery.

The /h/destruction of the Utopia Planitia Shipyards on Mars/h/ occurs in the year 2385 and Spock’s attempt to counter the supernovae of the Romulan Sun occurs in 2387. With the exception of flashbacks, the events in Picard occur 14 years after our time setting.

Now for the caveats.

First, the destruction of the Utopia Planitia Shipyards is a watershed event on par with the attack on Pearl Harbor, 9/11, or indeed the Coronavirus. If it has already occurred, it should be foremost in everyone’s minds and potentially influence our actions. If it hasn’t occurred, we will have some GREAT character development opportunities when it does (the NPC Chief Pilot grew up on Mars IIRC).

Second, the Universe is aware of the pending supernovae and the Federation is planning a massive evacuation championed by everyone’s favorite baldy, Professor Xavier. This is great background for missions either in support of or because of a lack of available resources due to the upcoming. It could even inform some character development. Feyd seems to hold a grudge against former foes. Might that prejudice extend to the former foes of the Humans/Federation?

I will need to edit my post Interlude because it was written assuming that our setting was in year 2399, running along side the events of Picard.

Someone is going to have to explain this to me as I am one hundred percent confused and lost. I had hoped when I chose that timeline and made it clear that I cannot see Picard and Discovery that it would settle some of this but alas it has not and now I'm faced with a timeline and two streaming services I cannot see and cannot afford to see and don't know how to see it. So question is now what do I do??? I am not in favor of all the events listed.
