Brooks looked down at his PADD that displayed his new assignment. He knew that the Independence was a new ship, but he couldn't even recall its starship class or which quadrant it was slated to be assigned to. Chief Operations Officer, the text displayed. Captain Dex Hellion. He had never heard of him. "Hmm," he muttered. His last job had ended poorly, just as the one had before that. And the one before that. Maybe this time it would be different.

"Lieutenant Balrog, Lieutenant Balrog," his communicator continued, "Your shuttle is scheduled to depart in three hours for the USS Independence."

Well that didn't take long.
