Mission: Distress Call

OOC: Hopefully I didn't jump the gun on this.

::ON::

News tends to travel extremely fast on a Starship; especially when it's a distress situation. As Lt. O'Connell was on his way to Main Engineering, his mind was racing putting together ideas on how to be ready when his department was called upon.

Entering Engineering Jamie made his way up a few steps to an elevated area and in a loud voice announced " Good Day, may I have everyone's attention please" there was absolute silence in the room with the only sound being put forth by the ship's engines.

"The Independence has received a distress call from the freighter Olympia; she is dead in the water except for life support so we will be making our way there post-haste. Each of you has your assignments already uploaded to your PADDs. Let's get our portable equipment ready in the event that an away team from Engineering is called upon to go over to the Olympia to help out."

"Petty Officer Jaenke, we may need your expertise if the Olympia's Comms go down; so be ready" Jamie ordered.

"Aye Lieutenant, I'll be ready" the Petty Officer replied.

"Question; does anyone have any expertise in ship's computers. We seem to have lost our last Computer Specialist which kind of puts us in a spot." Jamie asked.

After a few moments a young Vulcan male stepped forward "I'm Ensign T'sol Lieutenant and I have Computer experience."

"Excellent" Jamie replied" See me after the meeting and we'll talk some more"

"I believe that we have the best Engineering Department in Star Fleet so let's all work together and get this done. Make me proud. Dismissed" was his final words.

"Ensign T'Sol a word please"

The Ensign made his way over to the Lieutenant.

"What exactly is your experience with computers; just so I know" Jamie asked.

T'Sol replied "I am proficient in over one hundred different types of computers, both Vulcan and Star Fleet".

Jamie's jaw almost dropped to the floor on hearing his credentials and after composing himself he replied "Well, I guess that will do".

"Logically speaking I am your best choice" T'Sol said rather matter-of-factly.

There it is; the Vulcan Logic... which is not a bad thing especially in this case.

With his ten person Engineering team Jamie felt very confident in each of their abilities and the Department as a whole. This will be their first test as a Department with Jamie heading it up.....
