While Jamie was making his way to the exercise area for his 4 am workout he was thinking “This is the fifth time that I've worked out with the Ensign and it seems to be going pretty well. Of course things are still quite formal between us but maybe that'll change soon.”
When Jamie walked into the Holodeck he automatically removed his shirt and walked towards the incline walkway where the Ensign was standing, noticing that she looked as lovely as ever.
“Good morning Ensign, how are you today” he asked.
“Hi....I'm doing well thank you....Since this is the fifth time that we've worked out together, I think we know each other well enough now for you to call me Heather” she responded with a smile “And how are you feeling after our five workouts together.”
“I'm feeling really good between our workouts and the workouts in my quarters” he said feeling really good about the informality that now exists. “And please....call me Jamie.”
With a big smile she said “I'm very glad to hear that....Jamie. Why don't you warmup on the walkway while I continue with my workout.”
Heather was very pleased that she had not heard anything about their workouts together from any of the other Crew. It had been some time since she entrusted him with their secret and he had not uttered a word to anyone else “Looks like you passed my test Jamie O'Connell” she thought to herself.
So he stepped up on the machine and did his usual routine, but his time he had increased his time to twenty minutes. When he was done he stepped off and started to do his exercises as usual.
After awhile Heather walked over to Jamie “Let's see how your progressing, shall we” so she walked around him noticing that his back muscles had improved quite a bit as had his biceps. As she came around to the front of him, she ran her hand over his chest “Very nice” she whispered, smiling and looking Jamie in the eyes at the same time.
This was of course what Jamie had been hoping for; the barriers coming down between them while at the same time feeling the best that he had felt in a very long time....both physically and mentally. All in all this so far was working out quite well.
So while Jamie was doing his exercises, Heather was doing her usual routine working out. After about a half hour of intense workout she was finished and made her way over to him.
“Before we go let me show a practical application coming from hard work and years of practice. Computer level 3.... Klingon warrior” Heather announced.
Suddenly this angry Klingon warrior came charging at Heather and with a few kicks, punches, and turns, along with being in the air half the time, she defeated her foe in short order. Never had Jamie ever seen anyone move so fast and with such great ease. It was like watching a symphony of movement.
Heather walked over to Jamie smiling “ So... what did you think? This is what dedication and a lot of hard work gets you.”
“Wow, I've never seen anything like that in my life....so I guess you really didn't need any help with the Odinkus Captain. You're truly amazing to watch” Jamie commented being very sincere.
“Thank you....and no I could have handled him quite nicely on my own despite his size." was her reply “Say....I was wondering.... if you would like to come to my quarters some evening for some wine and listen to some music; I collect music from Earth's 20th century. Other than our walk after the Banquet we haven't really had too much of a chance to just sit and talk.”
Jamie just looked at Heather “Yes....I would like that very much; I'd really like to get to know you better.”
“Right answer” Heather responded with a smile “We can set something up latter.”
“Sounds good to me” Jamie said being quite happy about the whole situation.
When their time was up they both left the Holodeck; each feeling pretty good about what had just transpired.
