Resupply and Refit
Location: Sickbay

[USS Independence Sickbay]
Natasha sighed heavily as she finished checking over the supplies. They had arrived at the Starbase a few hours ago and she was surprised at how quickly they had managed to restock them after what they had used during the last mission. Still, it was done. Time for some R and R. She glanced over at the office and grimaced. Feyd was staring intently at the screen, no doubt looking for something no one else even thought was missing. Such was his way.
She approached his desk and leaned against the door frame in what she hoped was an alluring manner.
“We’re completely restocked, Doctor. Why don’t we go get a drink on the Starbase?”
“Nah, I’m good.” He said, not looking up at her.
“You sure? I think we both could use it after this mission.”
He paused and despite herself, she felt elation that he might say yes.
“No, thanks. Maybe next time.”
She sighed, disappointed. “All right, you know where I’ll be. See you tomorrow.”
“Good night.” He said, and went back to his task.
She walked out of Sickbay, her head swirling at the events of the last few days. She had heard from a friend that Feyd and Jeannette has spent at least one night together while she was aboard. She had heard about her before, just bits and pieces, about how they had been lovers once.
When she had first heard about their liaison, she had been hurt. But after she’d had time to think it over, she found that it didn’t change her feelings about him at all, just made her more determined to win him over. Part of her was disappointed in herself…how could she allow herself to love a man who could be wood by someone else? On the other hand, it somehow crystallized for her what she wanted.
She had been told that she was an attractive woman, and smart. She knew that. She had been told that she could practically have any man she wanted. She knew that too. And yet…the heart wanted what it wanted.
Nonetheless, she did need a drink, and so headed over to the Starbase in search of one. And who knew? Maybe she’d find a diversion to take her mind off what she couldn’t, at least for the moment, have.
