[Bridge]

Ensign Devroe had just walked out of the Commander's Ready Room after having a short but enjoyable conversation. Had the Captain not been on Ship's business she would have met her also; another time probably.

After meeting the other Crewman on the Bridge, the Ensign made her way to the Science Station. Looking at the panel, she realized that it was a little different than what she had been used to on her old Ship. It had all of the latest tech and was much more streamlined; but she was confident that she would make the adjustment without any problems. Her hands skillfully made their way over the panel and soon she was quite comfortable with her new toy. The more familiar she became with the functions the less likely it would be for her to make a mistake when under pressure. Looking around the Bridge though, Heather realized that her options for men were rather limited. She refocused and went back to work.

The turbo lift door opened as Jamie made his way to the Engineering Station; he had realized that after being on the Ship for some time he actually hadn't spent that much time at his Station. Given the fact that on their first mission he had been kidnapped by the Beleez and the second mission he was ordered to be on the Away Team. Although all this was new to him, this being his first assignment as the Chief, he realized that his place was here sometimes and he would have to learn to rely on Ensign T'Sol and the team to manage Engineering in his absence. The last thing he needed right now was to be reprimanded for not being at his Station when he was supposed to be.

When the lift doors had opened Heather saw this man, who she had not seen before, making his way to the Engineering Console.

“So he's the CEO for the ship” she was thinking “He's quite good looking; now this looks promising!”

Heather went back to working at her Console, but would lookup once in awhile towards the CEO's direction. After awhile, the CEO's eyes met hers and she simply gave him a nice smile and he smiled back at her.

The CEO left his Station and walked over to Heather “Hi I don't believe we've met yet; I'm Lieutenant Jamie O'Connell, you must be the new science person. Welcome to the Independence.” Jamie said.

“Hi, and yes I am. I'm Ensign Heather Devroe the new Assistant Chief Science Officer, very nice to meet you” she said with a smile.

“It's nice to meet you too. If there's anything that you need please don't be afraid to ask” Jamie commented and smiled back at her.

“Thank you I will” she responded, as the Lieutenant turned and returned to his Station, “Yes very promising.”

[Quarters]

Ensign Devroe had just finished her shift on the Bridge and stopped by her Quarters to find the discs for the Holodeck which contained the programs for her workouts. After sorting through a few boxes Heather found what she was looking for. There was stuff scattered on the floor which she figured she would put away after she returned. But right now she wanted to make sure that the discs would work in this Ship's Holodeck before a 4am workout.

[Holodeck]

When she arrived at her destination, she soon realized that her discs were too big to fit into the Console Panel of the Holodeck. “So now what” she thought rather disappointed; the last thing that she wanted to do was to have someone program all new discs which would take more time than she wanted. “Maybe....just maybe I could see if that nice Lieutenant would help me....he did say that if I needed anything....” With that thought in mind she turned and made her way to her next destination.

[Engineering]

Upon entering Engineering Heather looked around for Lieutenant O'Connell and saw him over by the Warp Drive. She also couldn't believe how massive the Warp Drive was for a ship of this size.

Walking over to him “Hi Lieutenant, could I bother you for a minute” she asked with a smile.

“Oh hi.... sure Ensign what can I do for you” Jamie asked.

“Well I was wondering if you could help me with these Holodeck discs. I use these for my workouts and they are too large for the Console Panel. I was wondering if you might be able to copy them to smaller discs for me, if it's not too much trouble.” she quarried.

“Sure, it's no trouble at all, let me ask my resident computer expert what he thinks.” Jamie called Ensign T'Sol over and explained the matter to him.

“Copying the discs should not be a problem but it will take about ten minutes, if you care to wait Ensign” was T'Sol's assessment.

“Yes I'll wait.....I'll get to know the Lieutenant a little better; if that's alright.” Heather asked with a smile.

“No that's fine. So do you work out often Ensign.” Jamie asked being quite interested.

“About three times a week. It helps to keep me fit while helping me to clear my mind and maintaining balance in my life” she explained.

“Yes I could use some of that mind clearing stuff right about now. What type of workouts do you do, if you don't mind my asking” he inquired.

“No not at all; I have trained in the Martial Arts since I was young. It really helps me to focus and helps to put things into perspective; besides helping me keep fit.” Heather explained “Are you having lady problems..........sorry I probably shouldn't have asked you that.”

“That's ok and to answer your question....not really, just a lot of disappointing circumstances lately” he responded.

“Do you workout at all Lieutenant” Heather asked.

“Well not as much as I should or would like to” Jamie said being a little embarrassed.

“I've have an idea....why don't you come and work out with me sometime and I can show you some basic Martial Arts exercises that should help you both physically and mentally; maybe even help you find some balance in your life” she suggested.

“Thank you, I just may take you up on your offer” he said with a smile.

“Good, I'll be looking forward to it; just let me know ahead of time if you could” Heather responded.

Coming over to them was T'Sol “Here are your discs Ensign, they should work without any problems.”

“Where are my manners...Ensign T'Sol this is Ensign Devroe, she is our new Assistant Chief Science Officer” Jamie said.

“I'm very pleased to meet you and thank you for the discs, it was very nice of you.” Heather responded.

“Your welcome and it was nice to meet you also Ensign” T'Sol answered.

“The Ensign has offered to let me workout with her and teach me some Martial Arts exercises” Jamie said being quite pleased with the whole situation.

“Indeed” T'Sol remarked with that one Vulcan eyebrow raised as he turned and went back to work.
