A New Ship

Today is the day that I start my tour aboard the U.S.S. Independence. Captain Huang said that the transfer was to allow me to further expand my responsibilities in a larger venue but I know that he was suspicious of my ambition to transfer to command division. Security division is dead-end unless I want to transfer to a border system and being tied down as the “sheriff” of a backwater colony is not the reason that I went to the Academy. If only I had done as well in academics as I did on the thrusterball court.

Captain Huang was right about one thing. A larger ship will mean greater opportunity.
