Now that the Independence was docked at Star Base 10 for repairs to the hull, restocking, and taking on new Crew members Jamie thought that he would have a look around the place. As opposed to the last time he was on a Star Base; which was by force.
Walking through the Promenade he noticed a nice little Pub. "Why not" he thought "I deserve a nice Irish Whiskey". So he made his way into the establishment and stepped up to the bar.
"What'll you have?" the Barkeep asked.
"Irish Whiskey, if you have it" Jamie responded.
"Do you want just whiskey or do you want the good stuff imported from Ireland on Earth?"
"Boy this is my lucky day; Whiskey from Ireland" Jamie thought to himself "The good stuff if you don't mind Barkeep."
Jamie picked up the glass and sniffed the contents "Ah, home sweet home" he said out loud. So he sipped his drink and savored every drop. When finished he put down the glass and turned and left the Pub.
As he was walking around he noticed a quaint little book store and decided to go inside. Looking around Jamie noticed a section with science type books, which caught his eye. Glancing over the different titles he saw something that he did not expect to find in a place like this. The book was entitled "Montgomery Scott's Theories On Trans-Warp Propulsion"; what a find! Jamie knew that he had to have the book so he grabbed it and make his way to the person at the checkout. The book was quite pricey but that was of no consequence to Jamie as he paid for the book.
Leaving the store he knew exactly where he was going next and what he would be doing the rest of the day. So Jamie made his way back to the Ship and straight to his quarters; a place that he really had not had the chance to be too much of late.
As the door closed behind him in his Quarters he made his way over to the couch with book in hand and sat down. Looking at the cover Jamie knew that he was lucky; this was every Engineers dream, to own a copy of this book.
So Jamie cracked the book open and started with the Prologue which read "Herein lies the theories of trans-warp propulsion written by Montgomery Scott, Chief Engineering Officer of the USS Enterprise...........
