Welcome To The USS Independence!

The USS Independence, registry number NCC-70401, is an Achilles Class Strategic Heavy Cruiser capable of long range missions with plenty of firepower.

The Sim utilizes traditional, long-form simulation using third person narrative and is set in the Star Trek Prime Universe in the year 2385. Our primary goal is to provide an outlet for creative story telling with a Star Trek theme, with a secondary goal of fostering fun and a sense of community.

We welcome all to join our adventure wherever it may take us as we explore the Universe encountering either friend or foe.

» End of Mission - By Odin!

Posted on Sat Feb 6th, 2021 @ 9:52am by Lieutenant JG Kevin Lance in General News

The mission By Odin! is ending. I will leave the final post Staff Call open until Monday morning in case anyone else want to add to it.

We are between missions and the ship is at Starbase 10 taking on new crew and supplies and repairing damage to the ship's hull. You can post what you are doing on the Starbase. At lease one author expressed interest in writing some individual posts on the Starbase.

The floor is open for award nominations. If anyone has an idea for a mission that they would like to propose, send me a message. Otherwise I will write something up.

The author of Lieutenant Ares Curillo has informed me that he has decide to resign from the simulation. His character will be placed on the inactive list and NPCs will be used to manage his characters functions in game.

Please join me in wishing him the best of luck in his future endeavors.

» Participation Requirement

Posted on Tue Sep 29th, 2020 @ 11:11am by Lieutenant JG Kevin Lance in General News

At the suggestion of one of the players, I am implementing a participation requirement. The majority of players are currently in compliance with the proposed participation requirement. I welcome any comments on the proposed participation requirement:

Participation Requirement

The Simulation is intended to be a collaboration between players through their characters. As such there is a weekly requirement to significantly participate in at least one joint post or develop their character through at least one personal log entry. The Sim Master will use the Crew Activity report to determine if a player in is violation of this requirement.

Players who violate the participation requirement by not posting within a week will receive a written PM warning from the Sim Master. Players who violate the participation requirement for two or more weeks will be placed in an Inactive role while the Sim Master attempts to make contact. Players who violate the participation requirement for four or more weeks will be removed from the simulation and their characters inactivated.

The participation requirement will be waive for characters on a leave of absence. A leave of absence can be requested on the Control Panel tab. A player must provide a duration for the leave of absence but do not need to give a reason. Participation requirements will resume upon the end of the leave of absence’s duration.

Characters of players on a short term (two week or less) leave of absence are considered to be on the ship but otherwise detained. Characters of players on an extended (more than two weeks) leave of absence are considered to have left the ship. A player returning from an extended leave of absence will need to work with the Sim Master to have their character reintegrated into the Simulation.

Kudo had taken one of the two of the type 10 shuttles aboard Indy. He had loaded it with the engineers he knew he could trust, and at the same time, would look best in jungle hiking shorts for women. Lotsa leg.

Landing outside the colony, all of it…

Chuck stood in the Strategic Operations office, considering what should stay and what should go. He had requested his reassignment to Chief Science Officer and the Captain, though somewhat bewildered, approved. The CSO's office was smaller, but also didn't require strategic intelligence materials and resources.
